The patterns on the hat base are made out of a variety of layered, carefully hand-placed pieces of felt, velvet, and/or grosgrain ribbon on a woven straw hat base.  It has two large clips attached. 
 
CAUTION:  Do not expose to direct flames or temperatures of 215 degrees Fahrenheit or above for prolonged periods of time.  It is made out of heat sensitive materials.
